# Agents in the IDE: a live "virtual board" for AI agents, built as a split-mode plugin with an MCP toolset

I want to share a feature I just shipped in **[JirAI](https://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugin/33954-jirai)**, a free Jira Cloud plugin.

## The problem

When a coding agent (Claude Code or any other) fans out into subagents, the terminal shows one grey line per agent.

## What the plugin does

The agent’s plan becomes a **Virtual Board** , an editor tab in the IDE:

It works **with or without Jira**.  
A board can be linked to a Jira work item or run purely on the plan/spec Markdown files the agent already writes.  
In that case, it’s local only, and nothing is written to Jira.
