How to disable bundled plugins during plugin verification?

Hi JetBrains Marketplace team:

My Protobuf plugin is registered with the same language ID as the official Protocol Buffer plugin, causing IDE verification to fail.

How can I disable some bundled plugins during the Plugin Verification phase?

Thanks

Reusing the same language ID will cause a nasty conflict resolution at startup where a user must turn off one of the plugins.
That‘s what the verification is reporting here.

Better use your own language ID. You can still assign the same file extensions, etc.

Yes, please keep IDs of languages unique. Use fileType for mapping to names and extensions instead. Users do not interact with IDs of languages anywhere

Worse than “nasty” as I found out the hard way when 2026.2 started bundling the Mermaid plugin. A language ID conflict on startup will hard-crash the IDE and you’ll have to resort to clearing your IDE settings or figuring out how to manually disable the plugin by hand-editing your settings on-disk.

Additionally, you cannot disable specific bundled plugins on JetBrains Marketplace. There is no control on the combination of the plugins that a particular user might install in their IDE.
