Edit your plugin description directly from the JetBrains Marketplace UI

Hello everyone!

We’ve just rolled out a new feature on JetBrains Marketplace: you can now edit your plugin description directly from the UI instead of uploading a new plugin version.

This works for all plugin types, including YouTrack apps and TeamCity recipes.

  • By default, the description still comes from plugin.xml. The first time you edit it in the UI, you’ll be asked whether to keep using the UI description from then on or only until the next plugin update. You can change this later under General Information.

  • The editor uses Markdown, while Marketplace stores the description as HTML, so you might notice small formatting differences after saving.

We’ve also updated the docs with more details and screenshots.

Give it a try, and let us know if anything feels confusing or doesn’t work as expected.

Thanks! Looks like a great feature that was missing for a bit.

Really liking the direction JetBrains marketplace has been taking this last year, the backend is becoming much more sophisticated than a simple “fundamentals” dashboard.
