Earlier this year, I was experimenting with converting Grammar-Kit + JFlex generated lexers and parsers to Kotlin/Wasm as a language server backend, so I was excited to see the release of an updated Grammar-Kit that actually outputs KMP-compatible Kotlin rather than Java.
I haven’t really seen much-if-any mention of it in the community, so I’m wondering if the Kotlin generation target is considered stable and ready for consumption by third-party plugins?
Yes, feel free to use it. I believe it’s pretty stable now. There might be bugs in some corner cases, of course, but not critical, and I’m ready to fix them promptly.
I’m exploring the new package com.intellij.platform.syntax which also touches this topic (Kotlin-only parser).
I’m working on a new language plugin with v2, split-mode and targeting 2026.2+ for now.
A kotlin-only parser which may be used outside PSI (if the need arises).
Is the syntax package stable enough to use in a plugin?
I know that it’s still marked experimental.
I’d prefer to start with what’s going to be used for most new project in a year or two.
