I just noticed this message in a now-closed-for-new-posts forum.
Since this JetBrains Marketplace forum is still open, I’m hoping the above message isn’t as severe as it sounds. I’ve only developed one plugin so far, but I’ll definitely want to provide updates in the future, and perhaps create new plugins.
That’s going to remain possible, yes?
Now what about community contributions to the IDEA application itself? I’m currently working on changes to the Markdown Preview feature that I was hoping I could submit as a PR when I’m done. Will JetBrains remain open to that?
By the way, I ran into the “IntelliJ IDEA Open API and Plugin Development Is Deprecated” post while looking for something else. Perhaps someone here will know the answer, in case my continued searching doesn’t pan out in the meantime.
How would I build the IDEA Community application itself, particularly the macOS version? I’d like to do some testing that way, but as of now I only know how to run my code out of another running copy of IDEA, not how to deploy the final IDEA application.
