Noctule · Cross-Platform Swift and Objective-C

Noctule has been around for a few years now.

With today’s release of version 4.0, it finally gets a debugger. That makes it much better suited for everyday development, and there’s a lot more I’d like to add

Noctule supports Xcode projects (among others) and has strong support for remote and container-based development:

  • Run your IDE in split mode, for example with the frontend on Linux and the backend on macOS, to work on an Xcode project with low latency. Noctule is built for split mode.
  • Work inside a Dev Container, such as one based on the official Swift Docker image. For example, you can debug tests in a Linux container on your Mac to track down bugs that only show up on Linux.
  • Work on a WSL-based Swift project on Windows, including debugging and running tests.

Noctule is freemium software, and many features for Swift Package Manager projects are free to use.

There’s a lot more, so check it out  I’m always glad for feedback.
Paid features have a free 10 days trial.

Thanks!
